  4. Oh dear - it's soap opera time! After last week's stellar episode it is such a shame that they cannot stick to classic CM but have to bring in the hokey personal stuff.

Mary, you're SO wrong... The little bits we've been shown are all misleading, ALL!

  6. I know enough not to believe the spoilers that come out. CM drops teasers and spoilers and then immediately debunks them - e,g JJ's possible "affair" with Cruz and whether or not Hotch was going to take the promotion. Why tease the viewer with stories like this only to have Erica Messer say they would never go those routes even before the show airs?? However, what I do know for sure that this backstory with JJ is likely to be as hokey and disappointing as Hotch's awful romance. Of course I will watch because occasionally they bring out a great episode like Final Shot last week but I wish they would concentrate on great profiling stories like that and leave out the backstories and the cheesy "family moments because they simply cannot do them well.

  7. Mary,

respect your opinion but totally disagree with you. Cm have done well with the Hotch and Hayley relationship and they did this from day one. the romance between Will and JJ is again well done, touching on what it is like, in part , to be in a relationship when two people are working very demanding jobs. the one with Hotch and Beth is different then what Hotch had with Hayley. The writers went with something different because why redo what they already done with Hotch and Hayley? why not see how Hotch is when he does have a supporting mate?

Yes we all love the profiling and we all want to see the team work the case BUT I and I am sure many others do not just watch for the case of the week with characters we know nothing off. If i was interested in that I would be watching a show like Law & Order where all that matter was just the case of the week.

Giving those characters some depth, by showing how they are not just on the job but also in the home life is way to know who those people who catch unsubs are.

As for Erica debunking what was teased about previously, well she would not have to do that IF journalists didn't asked her about those storylines and those journalists ask because people write/emails/tweet them about those same storylines. I would suggest if people do not want to know about upcoming storylines then why not avoid those articles?

  8. The original team of writers was the best for this show. Quite a few of the ones post- writers strike and firing process are just not good enough. They are responsible for changing the original characters into shadows of what they used to be. Of course, people change, but more than once we hear people complaining about personality transplant. Now, if you think about it, the main characters of the original CM were Hotch, Morgan, Gideon and Reid. Gideon is now out of the picture, so lets examinate the other ones. Hotch was the guy that was always by others side to help, nurture, smile, encourage... And now he is well known as the guy that never smile, and during the last two seasons his lines have been pretty much the same. He is now a secondary character, and his Romance with Beth looked forced since the actress really wasn't warm at all. Morgan was the guy that got the spirit to hang out outside the work, flirt with the ladies, he used to have some sparkle in his personality, and he had a speciality. Now, he is just the guy without a brain that is all about angst and kicking doors and waving a gun. He used to be a lot smarter in earlier seasons, and I even liked him then. Reid used to be smart. His inputs were always relevant to the case. We all knew then that he had a troubled childhood due to his mom illness, his dad leaving the family and shutting them out for like ever, and extreme bullying at school. Now he seems rather silly, he has an aunt and he was ok at the school because he helped the basketball team. The way he acts now is not the way a profoundly gifted individual would ever act, with or without Aspergers, so I don't buy the idea 'Reid is an aspie, so he must act silly'. That is just insulting. In many occasions some CM fans had discussed the issue of JJ personality transplant, so I won't even elaborate it, but also I couldn't care less about her. Besides, her character is now even more unrealistic than Reid's, being a mom and having a supporting husband, a good marriage and a child that seems to be ok despite lacking a mom for half to the weeks. Garcia also changed, from someone original, and caring, to someone annoying, pretentious and needy, that makes everything about her and her big ego.
So, in conclusion, I don't think it is ok to compare the former writers with those new ones, which seem to inspire themselves in the now quasi comedy/drama NCIS, which I used to love until they turned into an endless soap opera.
I still watch the show, because now and then an episode feels just right. But for all of season 7 and half of season 8 I've been disappointed. I was watching reruns of season 6 last Saturday, and I surprised myself when I caught myself thinking those episodes were better than any of season seven...

  9. Bravo Anon at 8.19pm - you have absolutely encapsulated my own feelings! I agree totally.
As for avoiding spoilers, hard to do when you are a fan wanting to read about the show. And when the spoilers are themselves spoiled by the production in that they set up a storyline and tear it down - that's just irritating.

  10. Oh and when i talked earlier about CM not doing the family moments well, that only goes for Seasons 6 - 9. In the early shows and how they showed Hotch and Haley, Reid and his Mom and Morgan and his past were superb,
